Smart modular design
FamBed’s modular design lets you add more sleeping space if your family grows, or rearrange the modules as your children move into rooms of their own. It’s both a sustainable and financially sensible solution. Simply remove the bed’s detachable, washable cover and take out one or more modules, each comprising a bed frame with legs and a sprung mattress. You’re then left with 2 separate beds. The only additional items you may need are legs, mattress toppers and covers, all available from our shop or most standard bed retailers. Here’s an example: You’re a family of 2 adults and one young child. You buy a 270 cm family bed and sleep comfortably in it for as many years as you need it. A 270 x 200 cm family bed consists of 3 separate 90 cm-wide bed bases, each with a frame and sprung mattress. Once your child is old enough to move into their own room, you can order separate legs, mattress toppers and covers to fit your new 180 x 200 cm adult bed and 90 x 200 cm child’s bed. These are available from our shop and most well-stocked bed retailers. A tailor can also alter your existing items, or you can do it yourself if you’re handy. Dual-sided mattresses
FamBed mattresses feature a unique dual-sided design, with one medium comfort side and one firm comfort side. This allows each family member to choose exactly the comfort they prefer, apart from an outright soft option. FamBed advises against soft mattresses for co-sleeping, as do most sleep experts and the Danish Health Authority’s official co-sleeping guidelines.
